The mummy was delivered to Ulaanbataar National Centre of Forensic Expertise.

This extraordinary picture shows the mummified male body which is believed to be several centuries old. It was found  at 6.30 pm 27 January 2015 in Songinokhairkhan province, reported Mongolia’s ‘Morning Newspaper’.

‘The mummified body sits in a lotus position, as if still meditating.

‘Experts that only had time to carry basic visual test say they believe the body can be about 200 years old’.

The report added: ‘So far there is no information as to where the body was found. The only details we learned was that it was covered with a cattle skin’.

It was not clear if it was the skin of a cow, horse, or camel, said the report. The mummy was delivered to Ulaanbataar National Centre of Forensic Expertise’.

Initial speculation is that the mummy could be a teacher of famous Lama Dashi-Dorzho Itigilov.

Dashi-Dorzho Itigilov, born in 1852, was a Buryat Buddhist Lama of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, best known for the lifelike state of his body.

His remains were reported not to be subject to macroscopic decay.

Could this be real footage of a Yeti?

A group of Russians claim to have captured the best footage of bigfoot.

Adygeisk-Yeti-footage

The people who filmed the footage spotted what they described as a hairy bear-sized humanoid that marched out of the woods before disappearing seconds later.

The recording came when a group of people from the city of Adygeisk set off in search of the mysterious creature after a local TV station reported that it had been sighted in a remote region.

They said they had questioned the people at a mountainside lodge who claimed to have seen the creature, and managed to get several independent confirmations that there was something out there.

Eyewitness Ludmila Hristoforova who spoke to local TV station said: “The creature was big, looking like a bear, but not a bear. From the door we’ve seen something big and shaggy.”

Homeowner Andrei Kazarian said: “I heard footsteps and we were pretty sure there was no one else around because we knew for sure everyone else was inside the house. Although we didn’t see anyone, we saw its huge footprints.

“They were 5 to 6 centimetres deep and couldn’t come from a human foot. We took a plaster cast of them and we estimate that it probably would have taken about 200 kilos to press the snow down that much.”

The local team then set off to investigate, and as they headed off into the forest said they were stunned when they heard the crunching of snow, and managed to grab footage of a hairy creature as it emerged from the trees.

After taking a plaster cast of the alleged footprint, the group have now handed their findings to local scientists for analysis.

The footage has already attracted a lot of interest with some suggesting it was just a stunt to bring in tourists, and others convinced that this was the first form of conclusive proof that the yeti exists in the area.

We at On the Odd are waiting to see if more footage pops up before putting our opinions out there.

A Haunting on South Street – Seaford NY

A short story about a house I lived in, in Seaford Harbor, NY.  The house was about 4 blocks from the house that the movie, Poltergeist was based on and roughly 4 miles from the Amityville house.  I guess you can say that particular area is a bit charged (although I don’t fully buy into the Amityville story).  My wife and I were ready to upgrade from our 2 br apartment and buy a house but couldn’t find anything so we decided to rent a house for the time being.  We found a cute place, made a deal and prepared to move in. I am not sure why but I decided to Google the address and what came up was that a young girl had apparently overdosed and died 2 years prior in the garage (this is a very affluent area and is surprising).  The story surrounding it was shady but I found a few crime scene photos. My morbid curiosity got me more excited about the house and we moved in without an event for months. During those first few months I recorded EVP sessions, set up time lapse cameras, etc but nothing.  One day I am in the kitchen cooking (I do all the cooking AKA Mr.Mom) and I hear a scraping or scratching on the wall in the Living Room (this wall is opposite of the garage) I chalk it up to house settling and don’t worry about it.  Then it seems to begin maybe once a week, and my wife is hearing it as well.  I run into the garage and nothing is amiss.  I notice against the wall in the garage I put a Ouija board on top of boxes and I don’t know where I acquired that Ouija board but I never mess with them so I left it.  A few weeks later the same situation, I’m cooking but this time I hear a big crash from the garage. I think maybe I stacked something up and it fell so I go in to check and I couldn’t find the source, very strange.  A week after the crash I go into the garage randomly to check on something and I notice right in the spot where the girl had died, right below where the Ouija board is was about a 7 inch diameter of ants just going back and forth in this little spot – in a near perfect circle.  It was as though someone spilled honey and they were feasting on it but there was no trail of ant to or from the area.  I sprayed them with some type of Raid spray (something to this day I regret) and that was the end of them.  The scratching continued, we had strange noises in the back yard and from the neighbors house (a story on it’s own since it was built in 1836 and has a family cemetery on the land, still owned by the same family). The house had a very strange feeling to it and I had tons of electrical issues until Hurricane Sandy hit.  A huge 120 year old tree fell and tore out our electrical service so we stayed with family for the 2 weeks it took to get the power back.  When I went back in the house it was like a new house.  The feeling of gloom was gone and it was as though the air was charged with freshness.  Hard to explain. Anyway, we bought a house and although the history is pretty extensive here (the house will be 90 in 2015) I haven’t had anything negative happen, although i began doing construction in my basement and am adding a sound room so we shall see.  If you want more info about the house let me know I would be happy to post everything I know about the place.

Xinhai Tunnel – Built through a cemetary

PICT2718

The Xinhai Tunnel passes through a hill which is also home to a large cemetery. It is this fact that many believe explains the strange activity that motorists have witnessed here. At times people have reported seeing a woman sweeping the road in the middle of the tunnel and no amount of honking will attract her attention and many people have had accidents trying to avoid her. Another strange phenomena sees drivers stuck in the tunnel trapped in the loop that keeps the end out of reach for a time before they are freed and finally able to exit.

Found online:

“Long the stuff of folklore and the source of ghost stories among Taipei residents, the spooky environs of the Xinhai Tunnel topped a recent online poll of the “Top Ten Haunted Sites” in Taiwan.

A Yam.com official said that the tunnel’s western entrance is next to Taipei Municipal Second Funeral Parlor on Xinhai Road, a number of fatal accidents have occurred in or near the tunnel, and several large public and private cemeteries are located in the mountains behind the tunnel, all of which help give the area an eerie feeling.

There are also urban legends about motorists seeing ghostly figures when driving through the tunnel late at night.

Another road, the Taipei-Yilan Highway, or Provincial Highway No. 9, came in at No. 2 on the list.

The winding mountain road, which has many hairpin turns, runs from New Taipei City’s Sindian District to Yilan County.

It has been the scene of scores of fatal accidents over the years and victims’ families are known to toss ghost money along the route to assure a peaceful rest for the departed.

Coming in at No. 3 is the Chinese Culture University’s Daren Hall, which houses the arts and foreign languages departments.

There is a popular rumor about students that the building’s elevator is haunted because it sometimes takes people to “B1,” a non-existent floor.

However, one alumnus said the rumor is the result of a prank.

“Some students wanted to play a joke and put a ‘B1’ sign on the elevator’s button panel as a Halloween prank. They were just trying to have some fun by scaring people,” the graduate said.

The university did not comment on the poll.

Two “haunted houses” made the list, one in Singjhong Village in Chiayi County’s Mingsyong Township and one in Keelung.

Singjhong Village head Yao Feng-chung said there were tales about the Mingsyong house many years ago, but most locals just regard it as an ordinary old house.

Keelung residents who live close to the old house belonging to the Lin clan on the list also say there is nothing scary about the building, it just looks a bit old.

The Katoli Circus, an abandoned amusement park in Greater Taichung’s Dakeng District was also a top vote-getter.

It is considered the most famous haunted site in central Taiwan and is a popular place for late-night visits by young people.

The dilapidated building in Greater Tainan that once housed the Singlin Hospital, its doors and windows now padlocked, made the list, as did the Xining Public Housing complex in Taipei.

One Xining resident, surnamed Yu, who has lived there since he was a child, said there was nothing scary about it.

“It takes about seven years to be able to get an apartment in a public housing project in Taipei. There are not enough places for humans to live around here, let alone ghosts,” he said.

Also on the list were a temple in Greater Kaohsiung and an apartment building near Baishawan in New Taipei City.

A Yam.com spokesperson said the poll was “just for fun.”

“We always have a healthy respect for the powers of the supernatural world. The sites chosen for the poll came from recommendations and reporting by bloggers, the media and netizens. The poll is not meant to denigrate any of these places,” the spokesperson said.

The Death Ship – The Ourang Medan

war_ships_35

The Death Ship – The Ourang Medan sent out a chilling SOS. Those answering found a ship full of corpses with terrified expressions frozen on their faces. Before the ship could be towed to port, it exploded and with it went answers to what might have happened. A great number of theories abound including alien abduction to more conventional possibilities such as methane bubbles. No one really knows for certain, which makes it one of the greatest maritime mysteries ever.

Google attempts to dissuade Terminators

terminator-2-robot-1

How do you stop the unstoppable killer Terminators if you’re not Sarah Connor? Google does it with a simple text file.

People have noted today that Google has a special “robot.txt” file that pokes fun at stopping the Terminators.

Robots.txt files are actually used to stop robots of the less threatening kind – it’s like Google that crawls the web looking for content. Use robots.txt, and you can stop them from gathering your content.

The new Google easter egg robots.txt was uploaded recently, maybe on the anniversary of the Robots.txt file? You can access the new file at google.com/killer-robots.txt.

The file reads:

User-Agent: T-1000 User-Agent: T-800 Disallow: /+LarryPage Disallow: /+SergeyBrin

T-1000 and T-800 are the different versions of Terminators for the movie series, The Terminator.

Here we are telling these two killer robots to not kill the Google founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin.

Now Larry & Sergey are safe!
